Tonight's Premier: Lions for Lambs
What do you stand for?
What do you fight for?
What do you live/die for?
Just as usual, it’s a "Wednesday Premier Movie" tonight. Always love to have a front seat (/first place or time) to have a good movie. Not alike with abroad "Premier Night" which, its artist attends the movies rolling for the first time, I just enjoyed having its first time than my friends (/other). although it’s not exactly the first time, since the movie already previewed in other towns or (even) country or earlier time at the same theater, still, I enjoyed it much then other.
Tonight is the Bandung’s Premier of “Lions for Lambs” movie by Robert Redford. I take Braga City Walk aka The Arcade as my favorite place. Not because its exclusivities (it’s said so because there’s not much people hanging outs at that place) but just because its show time meets my daily resting hour. What surprise me is; as this week is the grand opening of their new Carrefour, so there are a lot of other people which, make it no longer exclusive (at lease for me). (Sigh… I just hate those crowds).
And now, about the movie:
There are three things I take for granted from this movie which represent by three character of the artist which are:
1. Idealism which represent by a Honest Journalist
2. Egoism which represent by an Ambitious Congressman
3. Heroism which represent by Thoughtful Lecturer
First things; Idealism (damn… it’s hard to find such a principal).
I just love that Janine character (Meryl Streep), which always questioning the truth based on history. Not comparing the situation just tries to remain the Jasper Irving character (Tom Cruise) to admit; what mistake they (/their reign) have done in the past years. It’s such a good way to control our government.
Secondly, Egoism (an unwanted needs)
Yes… every ones have to have ego to keep fighting, surviving, and make things better. But, what make it worst is when it turns to Super Ego. When there’s other suffering, media exploited, worse facts disregarded. No, we don’t want it, want we?
Finally, Heroism (do we still have it?)
Everyone has sacrificed, everyone has suffered, everyone has learn/experienced. But what makes people better is when they can make changes from mistakes to justification. Teachers… always becomes wonderful inspiration which we all forget.
There’s lot of thought came when watching the movie; question about faith/idealism, statement about “the third world” (which, we’re one of them), our “Wrack Politician” (/Land of Corruptors), hedonist youth, adulthood (which came unexpected), blind heroism/devotion, etc.
Nothing more I can tells since it suddenly ends when I started to digest it. Damn… it’s only 88 minutes, why such a quality things comes in a second.
(Sigh… ) Hate to go back home, its raining outside and there’s rare public transport around.
See... yaa... till next “Premier Night”…

There’s always next time, hope there’s a good (enough) Indonesian movie to review.
